By Gary Agurries
Falling in love gives you a high
The falling part is what I don’t like
One minute your walking on the clouds
Before you know it you come crashing down
You give up your heart
Never get it back, whole in return
Little pieces missing here and there
When ever will I Learn
They say what doesn’t kill you
Makes you stronger
I’ve had enough
I don’t want to be stronger, no longer
How much pain can I take
How many times can my heart-break
How may tears can I cry
Till my eyes are completely dry
I don’t want to feel anymore
What are feeling, really good for
Feeling hurt and your made to feel sad
Feeling good never outweighs the bad
All I know Is I don’t want to feel anymore
What are feeling really good for
I don’t want to feel no more
I wish i couldn’t feel that’s for sure
Beautifully written, so heartfelt. I am touched by your words.

I have just reread your poem again, Gary. I love its poetic flow with great emotional intensity and honesty, so heartfelt as I already said. It just made me think of our inner struggle as human beings as far as love and passion. On the one hand the narrator of your poem is tired of the highs and lows of falling in love even though that makes us stronger. I see the voice of the intellect speaking here, trying to intellectualise these emotions, trying to heal the wounds but, what about the heart and the subconscious? The sexual desire in us? Is repression a solution? What about falling in love with someone much younger or older than ourselves? Is it possible to repress such feelings? Does our current Capitalist system hinder our love relationships? Does online dating work? I just found a connection between your lovely poem and this post by my friend Mario Savioni. In a way, you both seem to complement each other when dealing with love and passion. This is the link: https://savioni.wordpress.com/2019/02/01/pickles-and-tarts-chapter-4/
